One thing that definately makes a difference for me is where my inturrupt is on my skill bar. Try to place your inturrupts not far away from your hand so you don't have to reach far in order to use it. This helps alot with the twitch reflex. I try to keep my inturrupts near 1,2 or 3 for my left hand.

you really need to master interrupting to be really good at mesmer, skills like [skill]Power Spike[/skill] and [skill]Power Drain[/skill]. Those two are almost always on mesmer pve bars, and with the recent buffs of the interrupt skills, they are even more useful. Skills like [skill]Shame[/skill] and [skill]Guilt[/skill] are fun to use, but less effective because they can be wasted and have a rather long recharge. Practice with a friend in a scrimmage. Have them use a bar with skills of 1-3 second cast time and sometimes with or without FC to see how you do against it. Once you get the hang of lower level fast casting interrupting, then have them move the FC up about 3-5 points until you get to 16 FC. Also, you can try making skill activation bars of enemies larger and closer to your skill bar so quick casting skills are easier to catch. It will also benefit you to get a mouse with hotkey applicable side buttons. That way, you can connect your interrupt skill slots to them and make life a lot easier on yourself.

no, fast casting only works on spells, and neither of those are spells
I only worry about meteor shower and resurrect, anything else is takes too much concentration

QFT, don't try to use your mouse to click your interrupt. When I am in interrupt mode my AWSD fingers are always directly over the 1,2,3 where the interrupts are.

You bad at interupt coz your screen setting is bad

Skill monitor bar and target bar should be enlarged and place in a more handy place on the screen

If your mouse have more than 2 buttoms, set the shortcut to your mouse

So I've lengthened the enemy skill bar, and that has helped a bit. I am currently in Factions, fighting that jade sea squid monster thing - that is really testing my interruption skills. He keeps rezzing the smaller squids, and has this nasty jade storm (jade rage?) ability which is kicking our butt.

What do monster skills count as? Spells?

Thanks!

Monster skills are just skills that only monsters have. Just look for their skill type to see what they are. Quite a few are spells, but some are attacks, or just plain skills.

i really should enlarge the spell bar on my screen.. but i did hit [skill]Glimmer of Light[/skill] with [skill]Power Leak[/skill] in ab today, that one was a bit of luck and lots of anticipation. course the next game i couldn't hit the monks guardian to save my life, /sigh

I had problem interrupting too.. I'm still not the best interrupter.
But a good way that helped me improve was to use [skill]Arcane Conundrum[/skill](<- wrong icon) and use fast recharging interrupt spell such as [skill]Power Return[/skill] so if i missed an interrupt, it recharge fast enough to use it soon again.

Concentrate on longer spell at first and try to interrupt faster spell as you become better. With Arcane Conundrum on enemy, You can effectively interrupt heals and many other fast spells. But when you cast it watch out for hex removal since enemy that have one will use it right after you casted it. So keep an eye on enemy Mesmers and Monks when you use it.
After you're comfortable interrupting quicker spell such has heals and able to identify important spells to interrupt through Arcane Conundrum, you can actually ditch it and use another skill of your choice instead.

In PvE anticipating what the enemy will cast help a lot too. Like if your party spread conditions, watch for condition removal from monks, same for hexes.

Make the enemy casting bar big and learn skill icons as they are faster to identify than reading the skill name. Try, if possible, to stay in range of the enemy you want to interrupt. If you have to run to it to interrupt, you'll most likely miss it.
Some skills have very obvious animation which is good to recognize.. such as [skill]Maelstrom[/skill] to name just one.

Concentrate on monks, elementalists, ritualists and necromancers. Mesmer are harder to interrupt but its still good to watch for hex eater vortex and similar spells.

Another thing i do is always put my interrupt in the same slots even when i change my build. Usually 1 and 2. This way i don't search for it or use wrong one.
